Crewe without suspended Green against Salford
Posted Thursday, September 19, 2019 by PA
High-flying Crewe will again be without Paul Green for the visit of Salford on Saturday.
The midfielder serves the second of a three-game suspension for his sending off in the defeat by Cambridge last weekend.
His replacement, James Jones, looks set to keep his place after scoring a last-minute winner against Leyton Orient in midweek.
Young winger Owen Dale again had to settle for a substitute appearance and will hope this is the match where he is given his chance from the start.
Salford boss Graham Alexander made eight changes against Grimsby in midweek and was rewarded with a second League Two victory.
He may therefore be tempted to stick with same side for the trip to Gresty Road.
Richie Towell and Jack Baldwin both missed the game after picking up injuries against Cheltenham last weekend and will be checked.
Defender Nathan Pond returned from a knock as a late substitute and comes into contention for a starting place.
