Tariqe Fosu inspired Oxford to only their second League One win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Tranmere.
James Henry scored twice from the spot and Cameron Brannagan’s deflecgted effort found the net, but it was Fosu who stole the show.
The winger, who missed the previous week’s defeat at Fleetwood, jinked his way into the box in the 23rd minute and was brought down by Liam Ridehalgh.
He clearly wanted to take the spot-kick himself, but was talked out of it by team-mates and regular penalty taker Henry sent Scott Davies the wrong way.
Fosu also played a key part in Oxford’s second goal with 20 minutes left. After a fine move down the left, Fosu set up Brannagan for a shot which took a deflection on its way past Davies.
Oxford completed a comfortable victory in stoppage time after Darren Potter tripped substitute Shandon Baptiste and Henry rolled in his second penalty of the afternoon.
Tranmere were denied early on when Simon Eastwood beat out Rushian Hepburn-Murphy’s cross and a great block by Alex Gorrin kept out David Perkins’ shot.
