Los Blancos turned their attention to the French World Cup Winner, 20, after failing in their bid to sign his Brazilian teammate Neymar this window.

Spanish publication Sport reported that Madrid's desire to sign Mbappe meant that they were always behind Barcelona during negotiations for Neymar.
And the outlet also added that Zinedine Zidane has made his compatriot his top summer signing, ahead of Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
The French manager has already convinced Mbappe to make the switch to Spain, following reports that Manchester City are interested in the former Monaco man.
Madrid supporters have already shown their desire for Mbappe to become their next Galactico.
They chanted his name earlier this month when Eden Hazard was officially presented as their latest signing following his move from Chelsea.
Mbappe fired 39 goals in 43 appearances for PSG last season to help them retain the Ligue 1 title and already notched another two to begin this term.
However, he dealt the Parisians a huge blow with the news that he is expected to be out for a month after suffering a tear in his thigh.
Mbappe is currently under contract at the Parc des Princes until 2022 but reportedly refused to sign a bumper new deal with the club last month.
His strike partner Neymar has also been tipped to sign for Madrid, with Santos' president claiming their former star would snub a return to the Camp Nou.
Jose Carlos Peres said: "The money will still come!
"He is going to Real Madrid, if not now it will be at the end of the year."
