Marco Asensio's first steps

There's still a long road in front of Marco Asensio before he can get himself back on a pitch, but the Real Madrid forward is already taking steps forward in his recovery.
Without obsessing over rushing the process, Asensio is working daily to get back to the best shape possible.
For now, although it's early, his recovery is on the right track and just one week after his surgery he was supporting his injured leg with the aid of crutches. Last week, he was able to bend his knee 90 degrees.
Optimism grew on Tuesday when Real Madrid posted a video of the player walking in a recovery pool at Valdebebas.
A big challenge lies ahead in trying to return before the end of the season, particularly with the European Championship next summer. But, admittedly, he will have spent the majority of the season on the sidelines, making his participation in that competition unlikely.
He opted not to participate in last summer's European Under-21 Championship to recharge the batteries and the early-preseason fitness tests showed his results as being the best of the squad at Madrid.
Now, though, he has to start from scratch.
