Cove Rangers maintain impressive start to life in League Two

Cove Rangers extended their lead at the Ladbrokes League Two summit after a 3-0 win over Queen’s Park.

Daniel Higgins fired them ahead in the 21st minute from Jamie Masson’s corner, with Matthew Smith adding the second goal midway through the second half.

Fraser Fyvie added the gloss to the scoreline with the third goal late in the game after latching on to Masson’s through ball.

The Wee Rangers extended their advantage over Edinburgh City as they drew 3-3 with Elgin.

Edinburgh took the lead through captain Craig Thomson’s penalty in the 31st minute and doubled their advantage shortly before half-time thanks to Stephen Bronsky’s own goal.

Shane Sutherland pulled one back for the hosts in the 55th minute before Kane Hester levelled the scores in the 62nd.

Sutherland scored his second in the 73rd minute to edge Elgin ahead but an 87th-minute penalty by Thomson saw Edinburgh snatch a point.

Cowdenbeath moved into third place thanks to their 2-1 win over Brechin.

Ryan McCord opened the scoring in only the second minute for Brechin before Archie Thomas equalised just four minutes later with his first goal for the club.

Cowdenbeath took the lead from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute when Fraser Mullan slotted in for his third goal in three games.

Albion Rovers came from behind to beat nine-man Stirling 2-1.

Josh Peters fired Stirling ahead in the 17th minute when he crashed in a 25-yard shot off the post.

Stirling were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Kevin Nicoll was sent off in the 42nd minute, with Declan Byrne levelling for Albion from the penalty spot early in the second half after defender Paul McLean was also sent off.

Smart Osadolor scored in the 61st minute from close range to give hosts Albion the lead.

Elsewhere, Annan drew 1-1 with Stenhousemuir.

The visitors took the lead in the 29th minute when Alan Cook headed into the path of Mark McGuigan who turned and slotted the ball home.

Annan were back on level terms within two minutes, though, as Christian Nade scored the equaliser straight from the restart.
