Two late goals hand Burton victory over Bristol Rovers

Lucas Akins’ first goal of the season helped to secure a late victory for Burton as they grabbed a first home league win of the season and condemned Bristol Rovers to a third successive away league defeat.
Akins turned sharply onto Scott Fraser’s astute pass to fire home in the 87th minute to ease home frustrations before Ryan Edwards finished a superb counter-attack in stoppage time to seal the points.
The first half was something of a cagey affair with chances at a premium.
Edwards went closest early on with a glancing header inside the six-yard box that Luke Leahy managed to head off the line with keeper Anssi Jaakkola beaten.
Rovers dominated for large spells of the second half with Leahy seeing Kieran O’Hara parry a Jonson Clarke-Harris shot against him and out for a goal-kick and skipper Ollie Clarke having a header deflect wide off John Brayford.
O’Hara also made a smart save when Clarke’s low drive was deflected towards goal by Tyler Smith but all of Rovers’ hard work was undone when Akins and Edwards struck late on.
