Aldershot ended a five-match winless run with a much-needed 2-1 National League victory over fellow strugglers Ebbsfleet at Stonebridge Road on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors got off to a strong start with Ebbsfleet goalkeeper Jordan Holmes on hand to keep out an early Lewis Kinsella free-kick, while a second set-piece sailed wide moments later.
At the other end, Gozie Ugwu tested stopper Mitch Walker and Goddard fired a long-range effort over the crossbar as the hosts searched for an opener.
Aldershot took the lead as Aaron Eyoma slotted Connor Shields’ cross home two minutes before half-time with his first goal for the club.
Ethan Chislett doubled the Shots’ score following a defensive mistake just before the hour mark and Ugwu pulled one back for the hosts with a powerful late effort but it was not enough.
