Bruno Fernandes was linked with Manchester United throughout the summer but could be on his way to Real Madrid instead.

Manchester United transfer target Bruno Fernandes will join Real Madrid before the transfer window shuts, according to Fiorentina chief Daniele Prade.

Fernandes was reportedly a main target of United’s this summer but the Red Devils failed to strike an appropriate deal for the midfielder.

Fernandes scored 31 goals in all competitions last season for Sporting Lisbon and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have wanted him to play in tandem with Paul Pogba this term.

But United ended their transfer window with just three signings, spending nearly ï¿¡150million.

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James were the additions to a depleted United squad that Fernandes could have proved beneficial for.

And according to Fiorentina director Daniele Prade, United have been dealt a further blow as he claims that Fernandes will be joining Real before the closure of the transfer window.

"Bruno Fernandes will go to Real Madrid for €70m (ï¿¡63m),” he told Corriere dello Sport when he was asked about Sporting player Raphinha.

"Sporting could be finished in the market because Bruno Fernandes will go to Real Madrid €70m (ï¿¡63m).”

Fernandes is reportedly in talks with Real after the Spanish giants failed to land United midfielder Pogba.

Manager Zinedine Zidane had lined Pogba up as his number one target this summer but the Frenchman has now turned to Fernandes, who has already scored once and assisted three times this season.

Tottenham were also linked with a move for Fernandes but they ended up taking Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso on loan for the season.

Spurs also smashed their club-record fee for a signing when they bagged ex-Lyon man Tanguy Ndombele for ï¿¡55m.

United have endured a mixed start to the season. Solskjaer’s side thrashed Chelsea 4-0 on the opening day but drew with Wolves the week after.

And just last weekend, things got worse for the Red Devils as they were beaten by new signing Wan-Bissaka’s ex-side Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford.
