MK Dons will keep feet on ground after Southend cup success – Paul Tisdale

MK Dons manager Paul Tisdale will not be getting carried away by his side’s 4-1 Carabao Cup victory over Southend.
Despite being pleased with the performance, Tisdale will be keeping his feet on the ground after his side reached the third round of the competition.
“It feels great to win but we must remember to not get carried away,” said Tisdale.
“Football can change around very quickly and we’ve seen that ourselves in the last few days.
“But it was a good performance and there was a real snap to our play.
“Southend gave us a really tough 15 to 20 minutes after half-time but we weathered it and got two more goals at the end.”
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Rhys Healey netted from 12 yards and the visitors doubled their lead six minutes later with Callum Brittain sending an impressive long-range effort into the top left-hand corner.
Southend improved at the start of the second half and reduced the deficit in the 54th minute with Brandon Goodship tapping home Stephen Humphrys’ right-wing cross at the far post.
But a fine individual effort from Hiram Boateng extended Dons’ lead in the 82nd minute before Sam Nombe netted in stoppage time as Southend slumped to a sixth defeat in their seven games so far this season.
However, Shrimpers boss Kevin Bond is confident he can turn things around.
“It’s personal pressure and it’s your pride that hurts,” said Bond. “I feel it as much as you would expect me to.
“It’s an awful situation to be in but it’s still early days and I have every confidence it will turn around.
“With the players we have, we will turn this around but it’s hugely disappointing.
“We can’t win games when we keep on conceding goals like we are.”
