Michael Jolley hails Grimsby goal-threat after comeback win against Port Vale

Michael Jolley believes the goal-threat of his Grimsby side is also the catalyst for the resilience they have shown this season.
After falling behind against Port Vale at Blundell Park, the hosts went full throttle in their latest Sky Bet League Two clash at Blundell Park – earning a thrilling 5-2 victory.
Jordan Cook, Moses Ogbu, Matt Green and Luke Waterfall and James Hanson were all on target for Grimsby, with an own goal from Elliott Whitehouse opening the scoring before Nathan Smith registered for previously unbeaten Vale.
Jolley said: “It was a tough game for us and Port Vale are a strong team.
“The game was in the balance for a long time, so to come out of it with three points and five goals, we are really pleased about that.
“Part of that resilience is knowing that we have got a goal threat within the team.
“When you have that threat, you always feel like you’re in a game.
“We have to do better with our defending. We have given two goals away in our last two games, so we are a little bit disappointed with that.
“But we have scored seven ourselves, so that is pleasing and we have to take that forward as well.”
Vale boss John Askey said: “It’s not just the defenders who have to do it, it’s the whole team. We all have to be responsible.
“Conditions weren’t great. The wind was stronger than what you would think, but you have got to deal with it. The pitch was a bit sticky, so you couldn’t pass the ball as well as you would like.
“It was slow and played into their hands a little bit, because they go back to front.
“The most disappointing thing is, we went 1-0 up and didn’t control the game. We let them back in it and gave stupid free-kicks away.
“We let them back in the game and it got their crowd going. You can’t just turn it on when you want. You have got to put a shift in.”
