Cheek bags Bromley winner against Boreham Wood

Bromley maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a gritty 1-0 victory against Boreham Wood at Hayes Lane.
The Ravens made the breakthrough in first-half stoppage time when former Wood striker Reeco Hackett-Fairchild saw his deflected shot fall to Michael Cheek, who tapped in from close range.
The visitors responded well after the break and nearly took advantage of some sloppy play from the Bromley defence but Kabongo Tshimanga’s powerful effort was saved by Mark Cousins.
Boreham Wood continued to dominate proceedings and came close to equalising when Adam McDonnell saw his effort deflect off Cousins and hit a post.
The lively Hackett-Fairchild threatened to stretch Bromley’s lead but his curling shot fell inches wide before substitute Michael Klass fired a powerful effort over from the edge of the penalty area.
The win means Neil Smith’s side are the only team to have not lost in the National League this season and moves them up to second place in the table.
