Carlisle and Salford share spoils

Carlisle ended a three-game losing run in League Two with a 2-2 draw against Salford.
Olufela Olomola and Stefan Scougall were on target for the hosts, with Salford responding through Emmanuel Dieseruvwe and a Daniel Whitehead penalty in a pulsating first half.
Carlisle’s lively start was rewarded in the seventh minute when Nathan Thomas cut in from the right and his cross was headed in by Olomola.
Salford were having plenty of the ball and Joseph Jones rattled the Carlisle crossbar with a thunderous 35-yard effort.
The visitors levelled in the 28th minute with a well-worked goal. Ibou Touray spread the ball out to the right and Scott Wiseman’s cross was headed in by an unmarked Dieseruvwe.
And five minutes later Salford were ahead after Byron Webster fouled Jake Beesley and Whitehead’s spot-kick beat Adam Collin despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball.
The lead lasted just 10 minutes as Olomola’s stinging shot from the edge of the area was parried by Chris Neal into the path of Scougal who nodded in.
Hallam Hope and Scougall both missed good chances for Carlisle in the second half, while Dieseruvwe lifted the ball over the bar at the other end.
Opportunities continued to flow and on-loan Carlisle forward Elias Sorensen missed a late sitter before Collin made a great stop to deny Salford’s Beesley.
