Cove Rangers continued their unbeaten start to life in Ladbrokes League Two as they piled more misery on sorry Stirling.
The league leaders made it three wins from their opening four games as goals from Fraser Fyvie and Matty Smith earned them a 2-1 victory at home to the basement boys.
Fyvie opened the scoring in the 27th minute and Smith’s close-range finish doubled the lead early in the second half.
Stirling pulled one back late on through Josh Peters, but they remain without a point.
Victory moved Cove a point clear at the top of the table as Annan lost 3-1 at Cowdenbeath and Queen’s Park had to settle for a goalless draw at home to Elgin.
Christian Nade’s equaliser for Annan cancelled out Robbie Buchanan’s first-half opener, but Connor Smith restored Cowdenbeath’s lead in the 70th minute and Fraser Mullen made the points safe.
Edinburgh City moved up to second place as they came from behind to win 3-1 at Stenhousemuir.
Mark McGuigan put the hosts in front early on, but Edinburgh turned the game around after the break with goals from Blair Henderson, Marc Laird and Scott Shepherd.
Brechin picked up their first points of the season as Paul McManus’ goal earned a 1-0 win at Albion Rovers.
