Winless Chesterfield were pegged back twice as they were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with hosts Barnet.
Debutant Mike Fondop, who signed for the Spireites on Friday, headed the visitors in front from Josef Yarney’s cross with just a minute played at The Hive.
The Bees provided an instantaneous response in a frantic opening five minutes, as Jack Taylor’s curling effort found the top corner of Shwan Jalal’s net.
Scott Loach made several important saves for Barnet before the break, tipping Liam Mandeville’s header wide with his foot before denying Fondop.
The second period began in similar style, with Fondop tapping home a rebound after Loach denied his initial effort before Simeon Akinola drew the hosts level from the spot.
Loach came to Barnet’s rescue again with a terrific double save to keep terms level.
