Chelsea loanee Jacob Maddox could make his Tranmere debut on Saturday as Micky Mellon’s side host troubled Bolton at Prenton Park.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who signed his first professional contract with the Premier League club in 2018 and started 35 times for Cheltenham last season, joined Rovers a week ago on a season-long deal.
Rovers will again be without defenders Jake Caprice (ankle), Mark Ellis (knee) and Evan Gumbs (knee) while forward Ishmael Miller, who made just two appearances for Tranmere since arriving in January due to a persistent hamstring problem, remains sidelined.
Meanwhile, on-loan Aston Villa forward Rushian Hepburn-Murphy serves the final of his three-match suspension after receiving a straight red card in the opening day defeat to Rochdale.
The visitors will have one less senior option after midfielder Erhun Oztumer won his appeal to scrap the final year remaining on his Bolton contract.
The 28-year-old joined from Walsall last summer but only 10 matches, including Wanderers’ opening day loss at Wycombe.
Wanderers could also be without youngsters Dennis Politic and Liam Edwards through injury, piling the pressure on Phil Parkinson’s threadbare squad.
Long-term absentees Connor Hall and Josh Earl are unexpected to be unavailable until late October at earliest.
