Blackburn defender Darragh Lenihan is expected to be in contention to face Middlesbrough on Saturday
The Republic of Ireland international started the opening game of the season against Charlton but has been struggling with a knee problem and missed the last two matches.
Corry Evans, who picked up a knock and had to go off in Tuesday’s 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Oldham, has also returned to training.
Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo remains a doubt for Rovers, having sat out of training on Thursday.
Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate is set to recall most of the side which played against Brentford last weekend.
Woodgate made 10 changes for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Crewe, which saw Boro go out on penalties, but is expected to revert back as they return to Championship action.
Club captain George Friend, who made his first appearance of the season in midweek, could be involved as he closes in on full fitness after injury, but left-back Hayden Coulson is a doubt after picking up a knock.
Striker Rudy Gestede has been ruled out with a hamstring problem and he is set to undergo an epidural on Friday.
