MANCHESTER UNITED manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is preparing to banish ï¿¡500,000-per-week flop Alexis Sanchez to the reserve squad if he is unable to leave the club this month.

Manchester United are keen to offload Alexis Sanchez, who has been woeful since joining the club in January of last year.

The signing of the Chilean was seen as a major coup by United at the time, after they swapped Henrikh Mkhitaryan for him as he approached the end of his contract at Arsenal.

However, he failed to gel with the rest of the squad at Old Trafford and has so far scored just three Premier League goals in a season-and-a-half.

The forward found the net just twice in 18 months in cup competitions too, hardly justifying his extortionate ï¿¡500,000-per-week salary.

And with the transfer window for European clubs set to close on September 2, Sanchez’s exit is currently looking unlikely.

He has been linked with a move to Italy, with reports suggesting that both Inter Milan and Roma were interested in him.

But that reported interest has led to nothing, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is apparently set to punish the 30-year-old if he does not push through a move.

According to The Sun, Solskjaer will demote Sanchez to the reserve squad unless he leaves the club.

United enjoyed a storming start to the Premier League season on Sunday with an impressive 4-0 win over Chelsea.

Sanchez didn’t even feature in the match day squad, and his place in the squad looks to be under threat after the signing of Daniel James and the emergence of youngster Mason Greenwood.

James came on as a second-half substitute at Old Trafford and scored an impressive debut goal in the 4-0 rout.

Greenwood also appeared during the win and looked promising, as United fans hope he will be included more in coming games.

On Tuesday night, reports emerged from The Sun claiming that Greenwood and Sanchez had been involved in a training ground bust-up, adding further fuel to speculation that Sanchez’s time at United is limited.

The experienced forward was reportedly participating in fitness training after returning back to pre-season late from the Copa America.

Sanchez suffered injury during Chile’s third-placed play-off.

United are next in action against Wolves in the Premier League next Monday at Molineux.
