Plymouth ease past Leyton Orient

Ryan Lowe’s League Two pace-setters Plymouth continued their winning start with a 2-0 EFL Cup first-round success against Leyton Orient.
Callum McFadzean got Argyle off the mark just before the hour with a measured finish into the far corner after cutting in from the left and playing a neat one-two with target man Ryan Taylor.
Three minutes later it was 2-0 as Dom Telford smashed in an angled strike off the far post to give diving keeper Dean Brill little chance.
Argyle – showing five changes from the side that started the 1-0 win over Colchester – began well with wing back Joe Riley sending a speculative angle shot just wide from the right.
Telford went even closer with a 20-yard drive that flew just past the post and skipper Gary Sawyer’s bullet header just before the break was headed off the line by Orient defender Myles Judd.
Orient – with four players out – had their opportunities, with Lee Angol going close with a shot across the face of goal just before Plymouth’s opener.
McFadzean and Telford both produced impressive finishes to settle the tie and though Daniel Happe headed just over on 90 minutes, Orient had no way back.
