Oxford winger Forde in line for first start of the season against Peterborough

Winger Anthony Forde is pushing for a first start of the season as Oxford prepare to face Peterborough in the Carabao Cup.

Forde was an 88th-minute substitute when the two sides met in League One on Saturday and will hope for the chance to play an increased role after missing most of pre-season through injury.

Striker Dan Agyei has joined Oxford from Burnley on a three-year deal but may have to build up match fitness before making his debut.

Midfielder Shandon Baptiste is in contention after returning to training last week but he did not feature in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Posh.

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson could field a strong side as he bids to avoid a third straight defeat to start the season.

Record signing Mo Eisa is likely to start again despite being taken off at half-time on Saturday and will be on the hunt for his first competitive goal in Peterborough colours.

On-loan Leicester defender Josh Knight made his Peterborough debut from the bench on Saturday and is among those hoping to be handed a start.

Frazer Blake-Tracy – a summer signing from National League North side King’s Lynn – also impressed as a half-time substitute on his English Football League debut and the 23-year-old may well have done enough to earn a start at the Kassam Stadium.
