ARSENAL star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can’t wait to link up with Nicolas Pepe next season.

Arsenal are on the brink of singing the £72m Lille attacker.

Pepe is expected to lineup alongside Aubameyang this season and after Arsenal’s 4-3 win on penalties over Angers, the Gabonese star was asked about his new team-mate’s arrival.

He remained coy on the situation but said: “We're waiting for that!”

It is now just a matter of time before the Gunners officially announce Pepe’s arrival.

Earlier today, Lille chief Gerard Lopez confirmed the Ivorian attacker will be playing in an Arsenal shirt this season.

“He is the one who made the decision, I think it should be (made official) in the next 24 hours,” Lopez told RMC Sport.

“It is €80m fixed.

“If we pushed this deal out a little bit longer, we could have had five or six offers of the same size.

“Through discussions with Nico and his agents, things focused on the certain clubs that we wanted to focus on, the two projects that interested the player.”

Pepe, who netted 22 goals and provided 11 assists in Ligue 1 last term, will sign a five-year deal worth £138,000 a week.

Emery is working on a restricted budget thought to be around the £45m mark and as a result the French outfit have accepted taking £20m up front with the following £52million being split over the next four years, Lille receiving £13m per year.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved the decisive spot-kick from former Gunner Jeff Reine—Adelaide after Reiss Nelson had bagged Arsenal's only goal in normal time.

"When he was coming up to the penalty spot I was saying, 'Jeff, I know you, I know you so well'," Martinez said.

"I was guessing the wrong side for the first three pens and I think for the fourth pen I forced him to miss because I waited so long for him.

"Penalty shoot-outs are one of my strengths, so I'm delighted to win today. I wanted to win against Real Madrid as well, but sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

"The only penalty shoot-out I've lost in my career was against Real Madrid. I just look at myself and I know that I'm really good at it, so when I'm in a penalty shoot-out, I'm nice and relaxed because I know that I will at least save one or two."

Arsenal's final pre-season game takes place against Barcelona on Sunday.
