Should the Italians find the cash to bring in Lukaku, United will reportedly be ready to sign a replacement post-haste.

Sky Sports News believe Dembele to be among those options.

Joining Lyon last summer from Celtic, the Frenchman hit 20 goals in all competitions as his team reached the Champions League last-16.

That record is said to be of big interest to United as penalty box striker Dembele operates in much the same way as Lukaku.

However the Red Devils are still waiting on Inter to meet their £75million valuation.

They are understood to be attempting to sell Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic to raise the necessary funds.

The player has remained on the sidelines of their pre-season tour and Sun Sport have revealed that he is no longer injured.

Instead, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer isn't selecting Lukaku to avoid scuppering the move to Italy.

The Norwegian has hardly missed him, in the meantime.

Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have all been in fine form with the Frenchman joined by Angel Gomes on the scoresheet as Spurs were beaten on Thursday.

The 2-1 victory means United are four from four in friendlies this summer, with just Kristiansund and AC Milan to come before the Premier League season begins.
