CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has admitted he could QUIT Tottenham this summer in a stunning interview while on international duty.

The Denmark star is entering the final year of his contract at Spurs.

Eriksen has been linked with both Real Madrid and Manchester United in recent months and it appears a move appeals to the 27-year-old.

In a blockbuster interview while on international duty with Denmark, the midfield maestro has admitted he could leave Tottenham if allowed.

He said: “I feel that I am in a place in my career, where I might want to try something new.

“I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“I hope there will be a clarification during the summer. That's the plan. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants it best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football things take time.

“It depends on Daniel Levy. And another club has to come. Or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. If I have to go, then hopefully it will be a step up.

“Real Madrid? It's a step up. But it requires Real Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want Christian. And they have not done so yet, as far as I know.”

Tottenham are said to value Eriksen at ï¿¡100m but it would be hard to demand that for a player entering the final year of his contract.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a big fan of the midfielder but Zinedine Zidane is not as keen.

The Los Blancos boss would prefer to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba instead.

Zidane believes the France international would suit his high-tempo, attacking style better.

Real would not be able to sign both players because of financial restraints on the La Liga giants.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic and Porto defender Eder Militao have already joined with Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard expected to make a switch to the Bernabeu too.

Real are struggling to offload the likes of Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Dani Ceballos though.

If they manage to sell them Zidane would have extra funds to spend this summer.

That would open up the possibility of signing both Eriksen and Pogba.

Asked if he would see out his contract and leave on a free next summer, Eriksen said: “It is hard. It depends on the possibilities.

“If nothing pops up that is more exciting, why not stay in Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract, depends on the conditions.”
