MANCHESTER United are plotting a third bid to sign World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann.

Manchester United bosses have targeted the French international again after being told Borussia Dortmund ace Jason Sancho has no interest in moving to Old Trafford.

It is understood United are willing to meet the ï¿¡107m release clause in the Atletico Madrid star's contract.

The deal would make him United's record signing - eclipsing the ï¿¡90m spent on Paul Pogba in 2016.

Griezmann has long been linked with a move to United, who have tried but failed twice before to land him.

He is on the move this summer after announcing he is leaving Atletico, sparking a scramble for his signature.

Barcelona were expected to meet the valuation of the attacking midfielder.

But reports in Spain suggest Barca bosses are having second thoughts about the long term value of signing someone on a lengthy deal who is 28.

Alexis Sanchez could lose his No.7 shirt

United having given up hope of signing England ace Sancho - and view Griezmann as the ideal alternative.

The stumbling block could be the fact United cannot offer him Champions League football next season.

But boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will tell Griezmann he can become the central figure in his team alongside international team-mate and close friend Pogba.

United also know that signing Griezmann would boost their chances of persuading Pogba to stay and snub a possible move to Real Madrid.

Griezmann’s hero growing up was former United midfielder David Beckham.

United could also tempt him to Old Trafford with the promise of his idol's iconic No.7 shirt.

Alexis Sanchez wore it this season but has been a huge flop and will be leaving United in the coming weeks once a buyer is found.
