Real Madrid could wait until 2020 in order to sign Spurs ace Christian Erisken for free
REAL MADRID are willing to play the waiting game to land Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
Real’s plan is to pile the pressure on Tottenham with a late bid in August - knowing Spurs are at risk of losing Eriksen for nothing 12 months later.
The star midfielder, 27, is on Zinedine Zidane’s wanted list regardless of the Spanish giants pursuing deals for other Prem stars.
Real are hoping to lure Eden Hazard away from Chelsea and trying to snap up Manchester United ace Paul Pogba.
But Dane Eriksen is seen as a long-term successor to Luka Modric, who left White Hart Lane for the Bernabeu seven years ago.
The midfield maestro is determined to assess all his options before agreeing to stay at Tottenham.
He would command a fee of at least £100million with a long-term deal - but his expiring contract has given Real hope.
The club are keen to rebuild during legend Zidane’s second spell at the helm, hoping to put the nightmares of this season behind them.
Los Blancos will finish the campaign trophy-less as Barcelona have wrapped up La Liga and Ajax dumped them out the Champions League.
Meanwhile, United are also believed to be monitoring Eriksen's situation.
If Real decided to go after Pogba, the Red Devils could turn their attention to the Dane in search of the Frenchman's replacement.
Eriksen has notched nine goals and 14 assists in league and Europe this season.
