MANCHESTER UNITED are prepared to let Alexis Sanchez leave the club on loan - but only if a hefty chunk of his wages are paid.
The 30-year-old has struggled to make any real impact since joining the Red Devils from Arsenal.
After making the move north, his form nosedived at the Theatre of Dreams.
Sanchez, who earns £350,000-per-week, has registered just two goals all season.
In contrast, during the 2016/17 campaign, Sanchez notched an impressive 30 goals for the Gunners in all competitions.
The Times says United are keen to get rid - but they face a problem in trying to find a suitor willing to match his huge wages.
If necessary, Old Trafford bean counters will sanction a temporary exit away from the club.
It’s suggested Inter Milan are sniffing around following a solid showing in Serie A this term.
The Nerazzurri are third in the table and looking to strengthen their ranks.
United will be no pushovers, though. They want most of - if not all - of his wages covered.
A major overhaul at United is expected in the simmer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to make his mark.
The club legend has already warned that he expects higher standards.
“As a club we cannot carry players,” he said.
“Everyone has to take ownership, keep improving, show that hunger that you want to get better individually and as a team.
“I’m not just talking about Alexis. Everyone is under the same demands.
“But if we are talking about Alexis, he hasn’t been lucky with injuries.
“Since I came in, he’s had two long-term injuries and that hasn’t been beneficial to him.
“Some other players have had injuries as well. But I see the characters we have. I am looking at who we should keep, who we should move on.
“Alexis has got a fantastic talent when he’s at his best level. Now we want him performing for us.”
