Play-offs guaranteed as Forest Green close in on automatic promotion places

Forest Green are assured of at least a place in the Sky Bet League Two play-offs after making it four wins in a row against Cambridge.
Rovers are now three points shy of the automatic promotion places with two games to go.
An inauspicious start was tempered when Cambridge defender Louis John was afforded the freedom of the New Lawn to stride forwards and unleash a 30-yard effort that James Montgomery pushed wide.
Rovers opened their account after 24 minutes. Dayle Grubb’s flighted corner picked out the leaping Gavin Gunning, who neatly glanced his header beyond Dimitar Mitov.
Mark Cooper’s men started the second half on the front foot but were stung in the 66th minute, when Paul Lewis was allowed all the time in the world to pull the trigger from 25 yards and level things up.
Rovers responded, with Reece Brown stinging the palms of Mitov and Joseph Mills forcing a brave block from Harry Darling.
Cambridge cracked with 14 minutes to go. The predatory Christian Doidge found the net following a Grubb corner, after Gunning’s header was initially blocked.
