FOOTIE boss Joey Barton was arrested for an alleged racially aggravated assault.
The Fleetwood Town chief, 36, is accused of headbutting Barnsley’s German manager Daniel Stendel, 45, who lost two teeth in a tunnel scuffle.
Barton is at the centre of an alleged bust-up between himself and another manager
Cops said ex-England and Man City star Barton was in custody after visiting a police station.
He was said to be furious at seeing one of his players sent off in a 4-2 League One defeat on Saturday.
Stendel is said to have called Merseysider Barton “a f****** scally”.
It is claimed Barton used offensive words about Stendel’s nationality before allegedly lashing out.
A steward and a cop stopped Barton’s BMW from leaving the ground.
Barnsley striker Cauley Woodrow called Barton “foul” in a tweet that was then deleted.
Police said: “Officers investigating an incident at Barnsley FC on April 13 have arrested a man on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault.
“He attended at a police station and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Fleetwood have said: “We are currently establishing the facts.”
Barnsley have lodged a complaint to the Football League and Football Association over the alleged bust-up. Barton was jailed for affray in 2008.
