Walsall vs Southend United - Josh Gordon absent for struggling Walsall’s crunch clash

Walsall will be without Josh Gordon for the crucial clash with fellow relegation battlers Southend.
The forward was sent off during Saturday’s defeat at Accrington and he will serve a one-match ban on Friday.
In Gordon’s absence, Zeli Ismail could be recalled to the starting line-up. Andy Cook is also an option for Saddlers interim boss Martin O’Connor.
Six straight defeats have left Walsall 23rd in the table, a place and a point behind Southend.
The Shrimpers’ survival hopes were dealt a blow this week with the news that Jason Demetriou will miss the remainder of the season.
Demetriou suffered a knee injury during the first half of the defeat to Wycombe on Saturday and scans have shown that he requires an operation.
New Southend boss Kevin Bond will assess the fitness of Luke Hyam and Harry Bunn (hamstring).
The Shrimpers are without a win in 14 league matches but are just two points adrift of 20th-placed Rochdale.
