Toby Alderweireld is being watched by Arsenal
TOTTENHAM defender Toby Alderweireld is being eyed by a host of Premier League clubs — including bitter rivals Arsenal.
The Belgian centre-half, 30, could leave for just £25million — way below his market value — due to a clause in his contract extension.
So far there have been no official approaches but terms of his release clause can be met up to July 26, two weeks before the transfer deadline.
At Arsenal, he has been mentioned as they look to bolster Unai Emery’s squad on a budget.
Without a Champions League spot the Gunners could have as little as £40m to spend on getting back among the elite.
Spurs may even look for fresh terms to wipe out the clause that puts the ball in the court of their European rivals.
Manchester United have been linked with the ex- Atletico Madrid star, while Chelsea are also keen.
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, who looked at Alderweireld before bringing in Aymeric Laporte last season, may also pounce with injury-hit Vincent Kompany turning 33 last Wednesday.
