Ebbsfleet missed the opportunity to put pressure on their play-off rivals after slipping to a 1-0 home defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge in the Vanarama National League.
Tomi Adeloye scored a fine first-half goal to earn his side the win.
Angelo Balanta latched onto a 13th-minute cross from Nathan Smith but Nathan Ashmore was equal to his effort in the Ebbsfleet goal.
At the other end, Sam Magri then saw his header from a corner cleared off the line and moments later Dagenham were ahead.
Adeloye cut inside from the left wing and rifled home a superb strike in the 24th minute.
Ashmore produced a superb save in the 72nd minute to prevent Dagenham making it two when he tipped Conor Wilkinson’s header from Smith’s cross over the bar.
