Chesterfield hit four to continue strong finish to season

Chesterfield’s strong finish to the National League season continued as they eased to a 4-1 victory over bottom club Maidstone.
The Spirites threatened from the off and took a deserved lead through Bradley Barry’s deflected strike after 18 minutes.
The hosts continued to look the more dangerous side but were undone by a fine through ball from Jack Powell finding Blair Turgott, who fired home for the Stones after rounding the goalkeeper.
Both sides had their chances before Scott Boden restored the Spirites’ lead after 68 minutes, shooting on the turn after being picked out by Tom Denton’s header.
Late strikes from Ellis Chapman and Laurence Maguire made sure of the points for Chesterfield, who climb to 12th place after a run of four wins in their last five games.
