Real Madrid think signing Christian Eriksen would get them better value for money than if they were to splash £155m on Paul Pogba

REAL MADRID have made Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen their top transfer target over Paul Pogba, according to reports.

Los Blancos don't believe the Manchester United star is worth the money the Red Devils are asking for him, while the Spurs hero has impressed Zinedine Zidane this season.

Tottenham could cash in on Eriksen, 27, to avoid losing him for free as he is yet to extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2020.

But Spurs would like to make a notable profit on the Dane and have reportedly slapped a £130m transfer tag on their star.

Real Madrid believe the deal would still get them better value for money, though, than if they were to splash £155m on Pogba.

Zidane is known to be a fan of the Frenchman, but he does not want to be held to ransom by United and will not try to sign him "at any cost".

And according to El Confidencial, Real Madrid president Perez shares Zidane's view on Pogba, 26, and is now inclined to chase Eriksen instead.

The Los Blancos chief reportedly thinks the United star is not worthy of becoming the most expensive signing in club history.

The La Liga giants believe the midfielder's market value is inflated by his star status and are put off by his disciplinary problems as well as the earlier fallout with the sacked Jose Mourinho.

Madrid are also unwilling to pay his super-agent Mino Raiola's hefty commission fees.

REVOLUTION IS REAL

Zidane is preparing a major squad overhaul this summer with up to nine players likely to leave the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos are planning to raise £500m by flogging a number of their stars, including Gareth Bale - who could go to United in a swap deal for Pogba - Raphael Varane and Toni Kroos.

But some of that money is already earmarked for the transfer of Chelsea's Eden Hazard, who is on the verge of sealing his dream Madrid move.

Midfield reinforcements will be Zidane's priority with the uncertainty surrounding Kroos' future and Luka Modric turning 34 this year.

The Frenchman is believed to be dreaming of luring N'Golo Kante away from Stamford Bridge.

Although this scenario seems extremely unlikely considering Real Madrid's attempts to sign Hazard and the transfer ban Fifa slapped on the Blues.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain rebel Adrien Rabiot is reportedly another candidate to be wearing a Los Blancos shirt next season.
