Sunderland up to second after Burton draw

Sunderland climbed up to second in League One despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Burton.
The Black Cats, who came from behind to claim three points at Rochdale on Saturday, fell behind once again when defender Tom Flanagan turned a Marcus Harness cross into his own net in the 19th minute.
But Sunderland, who still have a game in hand over Barnsley in third, pulled level eight minutes later when defender Jack Baldwin headed in a Grant Leadbitter corner.
Sunderland pushed on in the closing stages in the hope of hitting a winner like they did at Rochdale, but there was to be no late breakthrough despite a Leadbitter effort that hit the foot of the post.
Sunderland’s goal led a charmed life at times too because Burton had numerous good chances earlier in the match, with Harness seeing an effort cleared off the line by Baldwin.
