Sunderland could be without Lynden Gooch when the Sky Bet League One promotion chasers host Burton.
Gooch came off in the first half of the Black Cats’ 2-1 victory at Rochdale with a hamstring problem on Saturday.
Boss Jack Ross could be boosted by the return of Aiden McGeady after he picked up an ankle/foot problem against Accrington, as Saturday’s game came too soon for the winger.
Lee Cattermole could also return against Burton after missing the last two games.
Nigel Clough could be without skipper Jake Buxton for Burton’s trip to Sunderland.
Buxton picked up a couple of strains in his side’s 3-1 win over Barnsley on Saturday and remains a doubt.
Winger David Templeton remains unavailable with a knee problem.
Kyle McFadzean and Will Miller are doubts due to illness and it remains to be seen whether the duo will feature.
