GARETH BALE has priced himself out of a stunning move to Manchester United.

Manchester United bosses had considered a bid to lure Bale back to the Premier League this summer.

But the Real Madrid superstar is demanding wages in the region of £450,000-a-week to leave the Spanish giants.

United are not prepared to give the Wales international those personal terms - and will turn their attentions elsewhere.

United had been put on red alert last month after it emerged Bale was reconsidering his future at the Bernabeu.

Bale has been left deflated following the return to Real of Zinedine Zidane for his second stint as boss.

Bale and Zidane do not get on and are expected to hold showdown talks between now and the end of the season.

United have remained long-time admirers of Bale and tried to sign him twice before, but failed both times.

But United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward knows Bale will be 30 before the start of next season - and that he represents bad financial business.

If the winger is given a long term contract he would have no resale value at the end of it.

Woodward has already had his fingers burned when signing Alexis Sanchez on a £500,000-a-week deal in 2018.

United are desperate to off-load the Chilean this summer after he proved a huge flop and his wages caused resentment in the dressing room.

Woodward is not prepared to make the same mistake with Bale, who would also cost United in the region of £80m in transfer fees.

United would prefer to invest such huge sums in the likes of Jadon Sancho, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Declan Rice, who are all on the club’s wanted list.

United are also keen to secure Marcus Rashford on a long-term contract, with more talks planned in the coming weeks.
