Hepburn-Murphy doubtful for Colchester visit

Cambridge striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is a major doubt for the Sky Bet League Two clash with Colchester because of an ankle injury.

Hepburn-Murphy fired the opener in the 2-2 draw with Carlisle but had to be replaced by David Amoo following a heavy tackle and is subject to a fitness test.

It is hoped Liam O’Neil will return before the end of the season but Reggie Lambe and Jake Doyle-Hayes are already back in training after spells in the treatment room.

“It’s important we really bang the drum and attack this game. We need to have a feeling that it’s our most important game,” boss Colin Calderwood said.

Colchester have suffered the hammer blow of losing Harry Pell for the rest of the season.

Pell had been recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in February only to suffer a recurrence, resulting in the end of his League Two campaign.

Goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin and defender Tom Eastman are also doubts because of respective knee and calf injuries.

“We’ve been in a great position all season until the last game so we want to get back to close the gap,” head coach John McGreal said.
