The pair have been brought together as Sir Alex bids to raise more money for the NHS.

So far the former manager has raised £405,000 after doctors gave him life-saving brain surgery last May.

Fergie held a charity event at a Manchester hotel last month that was attended by celebrities and figures from the sports world including Klopp.

It is reported by The Sun that Fred Drone, owner of bookies Betfred, was willing to pledge £100,000.

The condition was that he first went on a dinner date with Ferguson and Klopp.

It is well known that throughout his time as United manager, Ferguson always saw Liverpool as their biggest rival.

A date has yet to be confirmed for when they are to head for dinner but it is reported that it will be in Manchester.

Ferguson’s fundraiser was hosted by actor James Nesbitt and the Scott appeared to be in good health.

A source told The Sun: “Alex was in great form all night and had guests in stitches with his stories.

"It raised a lot of money but Alex was determined that all of it should go to the NHS.

"He’s always been a great supporter of them and that’s become even more the case since his health issues.”

Ferguson required surgery after collapsing in his home in Wilmslow, Greater Manchester.

He was put in an induced coma and spent four days in intensive care.

Ferguson thanked staff at Macclesfield, Salford Royal and Alexandra hospitals at the fundraiser.

He reportedly said: “Without those people who gave me such great care, I would not be sitting here today. Thank you from me and my family.”
