Chelsea set to offer Callum Hudson-Odoi £100,000-per-week

Callum Hudson-Odoi is still yet to start for Chelsea in the Premier League but he was handed a start for England during the international break.

Hudson-Odoi started - and impressed - during the Three Lions’ 5-1 win over Montenegro on Monday.

It left football fans scratching their heads wondering why Maurizio Sarri hasn’t given him many opportunities this season.

Hudson-Odoi was subject to intense interest from Bayern Munich in January but the Blues refused to sell the 18-year-old.

But what will happen in the summer?

Well, according to the Evening Standard, Chelsea will offer the winger £100,000-per-week in a bid to convince him to stay.

The report also states that ‘Chelsea’s desire to keep Hudson-Odoi has increased due to Fifa banning them from signing players for two windows.’

Chelsea are currently unable to sign any players this summer but will continue to contest that decision.

However, if that appeal fails and Hudson-Odoi refuses to sign a new deal, Chelsea still intend to keep him and run the risk of losing him for a nominal compensation fee at the end of his current deal - which has just over one year left to run.

The Stamford Bridge club offered Hudson-Odoi an £80,000-per-week contract in January but that was rejected by the wonderkid.

While £100,000-per-week could well satisfy his financial requirements, Hudson-Odoi says the amount of game time he receives is a big part of his decision.

He’s played 19 times this season but only six of them have come in the Premier League - all of which as a substitute.

Of course, Hudson-Odoi could benefit if Eden Hazard leaves Chelsea for Real Madrid in the summer.

Hazard is also out of contract in the summer of 2020 and is looking more and more likely to swap London for Madrid in the coming months.

And Hudson-Odoi may be tempted to stick around next season if Hazard does move on as his path to first-team football will be a lot clearer.
