REAL MADRID are set to make a sensational swoop for Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba this summer.

The Spanish giants were put on red alert last week after the 26-year-old revealed his dream was to play for the club.

Paul Pogba admitted it was his 'dream' to play for Real Madrid, putting the Spanish giants on red alert

He announced he wants to link up with Zinedine Zidane one day while away on international duty with France.

And Real are looking at getting the funds together to made a staggering move for the World Cup winner.

Pogba snubbed Los Blancos to move back to United in a then world record £89m switch.

But Zidane told the ex-Juventus midfielder he would be back in for him at some point during the future.

It is understood Pogba is happy at United but does not want to remain at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.

He would cost Real Madrid more than £125m to land, but they are looking to splash the cash after a disappointing campaign.

A United insider said: “Right until the moment Paul signed the contract, we knew Madrid were in his ear.

"Zidane made a last-minute push by asking him to reconsider joining United, blowing all kinds of smoke in the process.

"We had ticked all the boxes and knew Paul wanted to come home but there was always the Zidane concern.

"It was at the back of some minds after apparently he said he would love to manage him at some point.”

United are adamant Pogba is not for sale at any price this summer after a positive run of form.

He has been much improved under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has just been named permanent manager, after falling out with the now axed Jose Mourinho.

Pogba said of Madrid this week: “Like I’ve always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"There is also Zidane as a coach and it’s a dream for anybody who likes football.

"For now, I’m at Manchester. We don’t know what the future holds. I’m at Manchester and I’m happy.”
