KYLIAN MBAPPE has replaced PSG team-mate Neymar as Real Madrid’s primary target this summer following the return of Zinedine Zidane.

France wonderkid Mbappe is one of the hottest talents in the world right now.

The 20-year-old has a blistering 31 goals to his name in all competitions already this season, second only across European football to Lionel Messi.

The forward, who is the second most expensive player of all-time after fetching a mind-blowing ï¿¡165m at just 18, is expected to be a multiple Ballon d’Or winner in the coming years.

And while no doubt he could do that in Ligue 1 with PSG, a move to La Liga is the next logical step for Mbappe.

The two sides in Spain with a) the money to spare, and b) the reputation to pull such a world-beater, are Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona, of course, still have Messi, 31, on their books.

And while the Argentine has recaptured the dazzling form he has become so famous for this term, he is reaching the twilight of his career.

Real, meanwhile, lost their poster boy Cristiano Ronaldo last summer to Juventus.

And despite their desperate attempts to thrust Gareth Bale and Luka Modric into the limelight in his place, Los Blancos have fallen short this season under substandard management.

But that could be about to change following the return of record-breaking hero Zinedine Zidane.

Real president Florentino Perez was reportedly keen on bringing Neymar in this summer to fix the club’s lack of star talent.

But the 72-year-old Spaniard has been persuaded to pursue Kylian Mbappe instead, according to Marca.

The recently returned Zidane is thought to have played a part in the change of heart, having shown Mbappe around the Valdebebas training ground as a child.

Perez’s advisers have also allegedly listed several reasons for pursuing the young Frenchman over Neymar, with his huge potential to still improve the main attraction.

Brazilian Neymar, who has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for years, has also struggled with injuries this term.

But despite Neymar’s apparent unrest at the Parc des Princes, the two parties have never come close to agreeing deal.

Mbappe will start for France in their opening Euro 2020 fixture with Moldova on Friday night.
