Pearson and Smith on target as Macclesfield earn much-needed win

Two first-half goals gave Macclesfield Town a much needed 2-0 League Two win against fellow strugglers Yeovil Town.
Alex Fisher hit the post for a Glovers side who were in disarray on the pitch before James Pearson put the visitors 1-0 up after 18 minutes.
Ben Stephens was sent clear and he had time and space to pick out Pearson to slot home.
Macclesfield doubled their lead in the 33rd minute – with Yeovil’s defence all over the place – as Reece Cole sent in a cross for Harry Smith to tap in.
David Fitzpatrick had to be alert as the wind swirled around Huish Park to twice clear corners off the line for the Silkmen in quick succession.
Home goalkeeper Nathan Baxter saved his side from falling even further behind after the break to deny a Smith brace.
A long ball forward completely bypassed the defence but as the striker tried to round Baxter, he dived at his feet and brilliantly cleared the ball.
