Labrokes League One leaders Arbroath returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over East Fife.
Goals from Michael McKenna and Bobby Linn secured all three points for the hosts, who had lost their last two games and were winless in three.
Anton Dowds quickly cancelled out McKenna’s 27th-minute opener, but East Fife had no answer to Linn’s strike early in the second half.
Forfar are up to second – 13 points behind Arbroath – after beating Raith Rovers 2-1.
Rovers started the day in second but were beaten by Dale Hilson’s brace at Station Park.
Kevin Nisbet was on target for Rovers, who suffered a first defeat in five league games.
At the bottom, Stranraer boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 win at basement boys Stenhousemuir.
Innes Cameron’s 33rd-minute strike settled the game and moved eighth-placed Stranraer four points clear of their opponents, who are bottom on goal difference from Brechin.
Montrose’s trip to Brechin and Dumbarton v Airdrieonians were both postponed due to the weather.
