Brian Barry-Murphy up and running as Rochdale boss

Rochdale started life after Keith Hill with a 2-1 victory against fellow strugglers Shrewsbury.
Brian Barry-Murphy took charge of Dale following Hill’s sacking earlier in the week after six years in charge, and began his own managerial career with a welcome three points.
After a scrappy opening, Kgosi Ntlhe had the first effort of note in the 16th minute – a dipping volley from 25 yards which had Shrews goalkeeper Steven Arnold diving full-stretch to push the ball over the crossbar.
But from the resulting corner, Ntlhe was in the right place to sweep home Brad Inman’s delivery.
Dale doubled their advantage in the 48th minute, with the goal again coming from a corner, this time taken by Joe Bunney.
His delivery found Ntlhe on the penalty spot and while Arnold was able to keep out his scuffed shot, Jim McNulty was on hand to tuck the loose ball away from close range.
Greg Docherty pulled a goal back for Shrewsbury in the last minute and Aaron Amadi-Holloway smashed a shot against the crossbar in time added on, but Dale held on for the win.
