Newcastle vs Huddersfield Town - Selection dilemmas for Benitez against Huddersfield
Posted Saturday, February 23, 2019 by PA
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Huddersfield after receiving a series of boosts on the injury front.
Jonjo Shelvey is fit to resume following a troublesome thigh problem and has joined fellow midfielders Mohamed Diame (hip) and Ki Sung-yueng (hamstring), as well as full-back Paul Dummett (also hamstring) and striker Joselu (ankle), in returning to contention.
Record signing Miguel Almiron could be handed a first appearance at St James’ Park after making his debut as a substitute at Wolves. Keeper Rob Elliot (back) and defender Ciaran Clark (knee) are Benitez’s only absentees.
Huddersfield’s January signing Karlan Grant is hoping to make his full Premier League debut.
Grant has made two substitute appearances for the Terriers since joining from Charlton in a £2million deal last month and could be handed his first start as Elias Kachunga has been struggling with illness this week.
Goalkeeper Jonas Lossl and defender Chris Lowe are expected to return to the squad after illness, while Isaac Mbenza (calf), Danny Williams (knee) and Abdelhamid Sabiri (collarbone) are still unavailable
