Resurgent Chesterfield beat Halifax 1-0 at the Proact Stadium to remain unbeaten in six Vanarama National League matches and exit the relegation zone.
Early on, Haydn Hollis had a header saved by Sam Johnson as the hosts threatened. At the other end, Shwan Jalal had to tip a dangerous Jordan Preston cross over.
Marc Antoine-Fortune nearly gave the Spireites the lead before the break, but rolled his chance from Jon Smith’s pass in the box an inch wide.
Scott Boden climbed off the floor midway through the second half to convert a decisive penalty into the top corner, having tumbled over a stray Halifax leg himself for the award.
