Three and easy for Oldham at Crawley

Oldham clinched their first Sky Bet League Two win since New Year’s Day as they scored three late goals in a 3-0 victory at Crawley.

Paul Scholes, set to become the next Latics boss after being cleared to do so following an English Football League meeting on Friday, did not appear to be in the crowd as the Latics scored three times in the last 16 minutes.

The goals came from Johan Branger-Engone, Zak Dearnley and Gevaro Nepomuceno as the hosts were handed a second successive home defeat.

Crawley defender David Sesay had an early shot blocked before Oldham skipper Peter Clarke, recalled following suspension, cut out a dangerous low cross by Lewis Young.

Sesay should have done better shortly before the interval when he blazed over after being set up by Panutche Camara.

Crawley top-scorer Ollie Palmer shot wastefully wide before Branger-Engone had a shot cleared off the line by Tom Dallison at the other end.

Goalkeeper Daniel Iversen came to Oldham’s rescue by pushing a shot from Camara over the crossbar following good work by Lewis Young.

But the Latics broke the deadlock with 16 minutes left when Branger-Engone netted with a superb free-kick from 25 yards.

They doubled their lead in the 86th minute when Dearnley, on loan from Manchester United, scored on his debut after being found by Branger-Engone.

Nepomuceno completed the scoring in stoppage time by squeezing home from a tight angle.
