Colchester see off Cheltenham in style

Colchester produced a dominant performance to beat visitors Cheltenham 3-0 and move into League Two’s play-off places.
Kane Vincent-Young and Frank Nouble made it 2-0 before half-time and Abo Eisa added a third 11 minutes into the second half.
Scott Flinders foiled Courtney Senior before Colchester took the lead on the half hour through Vincent-Young, who ran at the Cheltenham defence from just inside the visitors’ half and scored with a superb low shot from 25 yards.
Eisa almost doubled the hosts’ lead when he played a good one-two with Frank Nouble before letting fly with an effort that Flinders scrambled away for a corner.
Flinders then denied Eisa again before Nouble doubled Colchester’s advantage two minutes before half-time when he collected Sammie Szmodics’ pass in the area and beat a defender before smashing a shot high into the far corner of the net.
And Colchester extended their lead early in the second half when Senior’s breathtaking run into the area saw him unselfishly square the ball to Eisa, who converted from close range.
Cheltenham offered little in response, as the U’s claimed a comprehensive win.
