BARCELONA midfielder Philippe Coutinho has admitted he could leave Barcelona in the future.

The Brazil international has failed to impress for the Catalan club this season.

And that has seen him fall down the pecking order under Ernesto Valverde with the likes of Ousmane Dembele preferred.

And after netting twice in the 6-1 Copa del Rey win over Sevilla last night, Coutinho spoke on his future.

"Nobody knows what will happen in the future," he told beIN Sports post-match.

"All I have in my head right now is to work hard."

Coutinho only made the switch to Barcelona last January after sealing a move from Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The £142million move hasn’t gone exactly to plan for the 26-year-old.

Transfer expert Guillem Balague thinks things could get very interesting with Coutinho in the summer who has been linked with Manchester United this month.

“Barcelona don’t want to get rid of him now,” he said on the GB Transfer Show.

“That is the end of that obviously, that became very clear earlier in the transfer window.

“But there is a big but because the problem with Barcelona is they are increasing the wage list, having decreased it of course.

“But with the signing of [Frenkie] De Jong, they’re trying to get [Adrien] Rabiot, they may have to get rid of some players.

“In fact De Jong was told by him coming in meant that two regulars were going to go.

“So in terms of Coutinho, they haven’t got to that stage where they have to push, or want to push, Coutinho out.

“But the jury is out. It’s not clear what his role is at Barcelona, he’s not confident either.

“So unless you improve Barcelona may just decide that the other player that they want to get rid of is Coutinho.

“Right now that’s not the case but let’s keep an eye on it because the summer could be interesting.”
