Nathan Austin scored twice in three minutes as Inverness moved into the top four of the Scottish Championship standings after beating Ayr 3-2.
Austin opened the scoring for Caley Thistle in the ninth minute when he tapped in on the rebound after his first shot was blocked.
He then doubled the visitors’ lead in the 12th minute after intercepting the ball and playing a one-two with Anthony McDonald before rounding Ayr goalkeeper Ross Doohan to score his second.
Liam Polworth notched Inverness’ third goal before the 20-minute mark when he fired into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.
Ayr pulled one back in the 53rd minute through Declan McDaid, who tapped in from Lawrence Shankland’s cross.
The prolific Shankland added a second for Ayr from a 20-yard free-kick in the 85th minute to set up a nervy finish but the hosts were unable to find an equaliser.
