East Fife from behind to see off Morton
Posted Sunday, January 20, 2019 by PA
East Fife made it through to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 win over Championship Morton.
Morton, having twice gone close through Robert Thomson, took an eighth-minute lead through Bob McHugh, but Anton Dowds almost immediately levelled for the Fifers from a short corner.
Brett Long denied McHugh a second and the hosts got their reward in the second half when Craig Watson made it 2-1.
Substitute Gary Oliver carried Morton’s main threat of an equaliser, but had a corner cleared off the line by Ross Dunlop and another effort blocked by Kevin Smith as the League One side held on.
